Surgical Ink® products and guidelines utilize temporary (semi-permanent) tattoos that unambiguously identify the intended site of incision, insertion or reduction, while concurrently isolating non-surgical portions of the body. Identifying the mirrored body part is critical where bi-lateral body symmetry is part of the surgical equation.

Field testing has been done with a variety of Surgical Ink® designs. All tests have confirmed excellent product performance without any additional product precautions, warnings or adaptations.
All Surgical Ink® products are in compliance with FDA regulations and requirements, and meet or exceed standards of the Joint Commission Protocol.
Multi-level safety testing has been performed by a nationally recognized testing center to the adult and child level. All inks used are vegetable based and the only known reaction is “the possibility of” an eczema type rash for those individuals previously demonstrating an intolerance to adhesives.
